Mustii delivers new single The Maze which arrives with the news that the Belgian musical talent’s third album of the same name will be with us on December 6th.
Mustii shared some details about the thematic inspirations behind The Maze: “The song THE MAZE sets the tone for the forthcoming album. It’s the name of an imaginary night club – the setting for all the songs on the album – but it also serves as a metaphor for my mind. A place where it’s easy to get lost…. It’s also puts in to question my sexuality and the creation of a new assumed family; the queer and underground world which often carries flaws, scars but also a lot of life, love and fire.”
The Maze marks the third taste of the upcoming album with the Belgium multi-hyphenate previously releasing singles Tell the Kids It’s Alright – a raucous Bowie and T-Rex inspired anthem – and underrated Eurovision Song Contest entry Before The Party’s Over. New single The Maze continues to conjure up queer-references, thumping grooves, and darkly poetic lyricism.
On the upcoming album Mustii shares that he wants to refocus his music on his own personal experiences: “I imagine this album as a metaphor for a long night of partying, from the pre-party to the after-party, with its ups and downs, the euphoria then the fall. THE MAZE is the name of the nightclub in which the experiences, discoveries and extremities take place, but undoubtedly also the metaphor of my mind, of the side roads that I take, of the comings and goings”.
