Fresh from his star turn in the provocative and shocking A Teacher, Nick Robinson moves full steam ahead with his latest big screen feature, Silk Road. Due for release on February 19th, Silk Road sees Nick team-up with director Tiller Russell and co-stars Jennifer Yun, Jason Clarke and Jimmi Simpson. See the full synopsis below:
“Inspired by larger-than-life actual events, this riveting crime thriller follows the rise and fall of Silk Road, the infamous darknet site that sent a seismic shock through the World Wide Web. Young, idealistic, and driven to succeed, Ross Ulbricht (Nick Robinson) creates the internet’s first unregulated marketplace: Silk Road. But when it becomes a multimillion-dollar pipeline for illicit drugs, Ross is set on a collision course with Rick Bowden (Jason Clarke), a disreputable and dangerously unpredictable DEA agent, who will use any means necessary to take him down.“
The Silk Road was historically a network of trade routes connecting China and the Far East with the Middle East and Europe. It seems to be a reference to the drug pipeline at the heart of the film.
Look out for Silk Road on VOD in February.
