Leslie Jordan has just Beyoncé’d his debut album Company’s Comin’ this weekend with the beloved comedy star and contemporary social media icon assembling a plethora of country talent for the release. With ten tracks, the set features luminaries such as Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker and Brandi Carlile helping Leslie take on some gospel gems.
To mark the release, the performer noted: “At times of stress, at times of peace, I would recite the old words and hum the sturdy tunes, and the weariness of years, the burdens of time would melt away. I found myself, as I find myself to this day, revived and renewed, if only for the length of a few beloved verses. But how welcome that brief restoration of a child’s fleeting and marvelous belief can be.“
The set features ten country, gospel, and soul classics such as This Little Light of Mine and Where the Soul Never Dies, with Leslie and his collaborators putting a Southern homegrown family flavour on the tracks. The album will be releases on vinyl and CD later in the year.
