Erika Vikman channels the modern art stylings of Juno Calypso and David LaChapelle in the video for her latest single Häpeä (Eng: Shame). Häpeä soars through powerful synth-driven production, Erika’s committed vocal stylings, and the distinct visual flavour as showcased in the track’s official video.
The track appears to centre on themes of living defiantly without shame and stigma with lyrics translating as “I have time to be who I am, Without shame…” Häpeä is written by Kaisa Korhonen and Janne Rintala, with production from
Mika Laakkonen. We have to hand it to Erika, lots of artists who dabble in synthpop feel like they simply playing with nostalgia, Erika feels like she is pushing the pop subgenre in new and progressive directions.
The Finnish singer has continued to find success since the release of her single Cicciolina, one of the competing entries in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020, the Finnish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
