Benjamin Ingrosso is certainly a busy man dropping two Swedish language albums – En gång i tiden and En gång i tiden (Del 2) in 2021 alone, and now the Eurovision heartthrob gears up to drop some English language music in the form of Smile. The studio version of the track is set to be released on Friday, but the singer whets our appetite with a live version which can be watched above.
Smile is written by Britt Burton, Hampus Lindvall and Benjamin, with production also from Hampus. The feel-good track sees the Shampoo singer croon “Sometimes you know me better than I know myself, And when I’m down I always reach to you for help, And I don’t say it often, But without you I’m not much…” in the pop anthem dedicated to his sister Bianca. You can hear the track in the seventies influenced music video above. Benjamin sounds completely charismatic on the single which soars through truly uplifting production and an endearing positive message.
Benjamin shared his thoughts on the song on Instagram: “This song means a lot to me since I wrote it for my sister – the one person in my life that knows me inside and out!! Bianca Ingrosso. However, I want the song to be a reminder to everyone about how important it is to appreciate all the beautiful people you have in your life. Especially after this year where most of us have had to distance ourselves from our close friends and family. Better times are on its way! So remember to keep your hope up, If you smile – I smile!”
It’s not clear yet if Smile will be followed by a full English language project – although the singer revealed in late 2020 that he had two English albums good to go.
Watch the video for Smile above. You can stream the track on streaming services from Friday.
