Joseph Reuben makes a bold impression with his compelling cinematic new single Dreamland. The track follows his previous single Life In Colour and shows clear influence from Joseph’s work as a score composer for film, TV, theatre and ballet.
With evocative strings and contemplative piano with subtle electronic elements shining through, Dreamland is a stirring introduction to Joseph. There is a sense of sweeping theatrical grandness to Dreamland yet an unmistakable honesty to heard in Joseph’s vocals. He wrote and produced the song, which was completed with mixing from Goetz Botzenhardt (Björk, Pet Shop Boys) and some lyrical adjustments from his brother, David King Reuben. Joseph collaborates on Dreamland’s string arrangements with Thomas Rousell.
The track is something of a reintroduction for Joseph, initially catching public attention through a soulful cover of Robyn’s Call Your Girlfriend a number of years ago yet this upwards trajectory was cut short by emergency surgery resulting in him potentially not singing again. Joseph subsequently channelled his talents into composing scores, before making his long awaited solo return.
