The idea of a new Dead Or Alive album has been a fantasy of ours – and one that we never envisioned coming true after the sad passing of both Pete Burns and Steve Coy. Thankfully the band’s legacy has been wonderfully handled over recent years with an impressive reissue campaign bringing rare releases such as Fan the Flame and Fragile gaining further lease of life, as well as the packed Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI. It has recently been announced that we will be receiving a Part 2 to the Fan the Flame album, Fan the Flame Part 2 (The Resurrection), featuring previously unheard tracks from the early nineties.
The latest teaser of the eight new tracks is Hurt Me (Did U Have 2 Hurt Me) a nineties house treat with Cathy Dennis vibes. Hurt Me is written by Peter Burns, Peter Oxendale and Stephen Coy.
A statement notes: “At the time of the release of ‘SBB MMXVI’, Pete Burns and Steve Coy were planning to revisit an album that they had started to record in 1990. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and they didn’t get the opportunity to do so. ‘Fan The Flame (Part 2) The Resurrection’ is the culmination of the work that Pete and Steve recorded over the next four years but which was never fully completed.”
Marina Zacco Coy shared “Working over many months from the original multi-track tapes that have been in Steve’s archive for 30 years, these recordings have now been lovingly and painstakingly pieced together. The album has been especially planned for release on the eve of the 5th Anniversary of Pete leaving us.”
First single Tonight was released on August 20th through Demon Music Group / Edsel. The full album will arrive on 22nd October 2021 in numerous formats including a 2CD mediabook, a 2LP orange vinyl featuring instrumentals, and a one disc clear vinyl featuring the eight original track album.
