East Sussex based musical talent Alexander Mountain returns with his latest single Without this weekend. The track sees Alexander recount how he managed to escape the grip of a former lover.
Opening with a classic vinyl crackle effect, Without’s sharp guitars create a canvas for Alexander’s emotional vocals. As the track progresses, the production bursts into a smooth pop-rock flavoured sound, blending the distinctive guitar bassline with slick electronic finesse. Without sees Alexander draw inspiration from some of his favourite musical acts such as Maggie Rogers, Dermot Kennedy,
MUNA and iamamwhoami. It was written by Alexander with additional songwriting and production from Tom Baxter.
Without’s combination of a stirring, emotive story and Alexander’s welcoming vocals, help the single shine as one of the rising talent’s strongest releases. It is wonderful to hear Alexander sing atop more pop-centred production, further highlighting his versatility as an artist.
