Alex Sampson and John Nathaniel co-write Pretty Baby, the nostalgic new single from rising Canadian talent Alex. The number, produced by Nathaniel, is the start of of what Alex describes as his ‘hopeless romantic era’ and will feature on his upcoming sophomore EP.
Alex shared with fans: “This song is so special to me for a variety of reasons and I’m so happy it’s finally yours. The performance video will be out next Friday on my YouTube channel! I hope you love love love love love it.”
The star adds: “I wrote this song back in October with phenomenal writer and producer John Nathaniel and it has to be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever been a part of creating. We felt so much magic while making it and I can’t wait for you to hear the full thing at the end of this month. I’m happy to announce that this will be the first single off of my sophomore EP! Yeah I said it. Was I supposed to say it? Probably not but I’m doing it anyway LOL.”
The number, released through Warner Records, draws influence from classic vintage pop, sprinkled with a woozy nostalgia that evokes the recent retro revival driven by stars such as Stephen Sanchez. Alex sounds fantastic on the track, with a raw and emotive vocal shimmering atop the romantic production.
