Katy Perry releases comeback single Woman’s World this weekend, with the number serving as the launchpad for her upcoming studio album 143 – the singer’s first LP since 2020. Snippets from the single were quick to go viral across social media, despite the controversy of the star working with producer Dr Luke.
The high-energy anthem Woman’s World (not to be confused with the Cher banger of the same name) was produced with the aim of making a truly euphoric and wholly pop number, with the singer sharing: “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message.”
Perry co-wrote the single with songwriter Chloe Angelides and producers Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Did It Again!, and Aaron Joseph. The track arrives alongside a video directed by Charlotte Rutherford and starring social media queen Trisha Paytas.
In a video shared to her social media, the American Idol shared the meaning of 143 to her: “I don’t know about you, but 143 for me is a message from my angels. It means I love you in some digital language, but it’s a symbol that I get and have received in some of my hardest moments and it was something that started coming to me about two-and-a-half years ago. I see 143 everywhere and not just like on the phone, even though that’s always a good sign, but I see it everywhere. …The angels always want to speak with you, (you’ve) just got to be willing to hear it.”
143 arrives September 20th. You can pre-order here.
