Ukraine’s Maria Sur has made a name for herself as one of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen regulars thanks to her well-received entries Never Give Up and our personal favourite, When I’m Gone. The young star packs powerhouse vocals and an endearing emotion to any number she tackles, skills that help her singles stand out in a busy pop market. Maria’s latest anthem is one that sees her remain on the dancefloor – the anthemic Dance Alone.
Dance Alone sees Maria collaborate with producer Jimmy ‘Joker’ Thörnfeldt, who also co-writes with Maria, Jimmy Jansson and Linnea Deb – a hitmaking team if ever we saw one. Released through Warner Music Sweden, the number features twinkling synth-soaked dance beats, big vocals, and a chorus of epic proportions.
Maria found fame in Ukraine on the country’s version of The Voice before moving to Sweden as a result of the Russian invasion. We have hopes to see Maria back on the Melodifestivalen stage in 2025, but either way, we are delighted to hear this new music from her.
