Swedish hitmaker Felix Sandman entered a new creative renaissance with his EP Sandy Karlo this year, a welcome return to the music world for the handsome Stockholm native. If you missed our rave reviews on the tracks, you can revisit these here. We are delighted that Felix is following up the EP with a full length album, which the star titles Yue.
Felix shares: “The whole album is about coming out of the dark and trying to discover who you are and who you’re going to be.” The title Yue means “moon” in Chinese, whilst also being a character from the anime series Avatar – The Last Airbender, who sacrifices his soul to light the moon that has gone out. This symbolism of the moon is said to consistently be found throughout the upcoming album tracks – an important symbol for the search for a guiding light in the darkness.
Felix teased upcoming track Nakisawame, the name referencing a female kami (deity or spirit) in Japanese mythology with her name meaning weeping female. We’re fascinated by the creative direction that Felix is pursuing with his upcoming music, which seems packed with cross-cultural references and influences.
Yue will be released on January 31st. Felix will be playing an exclusive gig at the Kägelbanan in Stockholm. Tickets go on sale on 2nd Dec at 10 a.m. via luger.se/felix-sandman See the album tracklist below.
