Supernova 2025: Meet Latvia’s Contenders For Eurovision Glory

Supernova continues to showcase the best of the Latvian music world, with their crop of artists for 2025 diving into a eclectic array of sounds from traditional to techno. Those vying for glory at Latvia’s Eurovision selection programme include stars such as Citi Zēni (who took to the stage with Eat Your Salad in Eurovision 2022) and Justs (who performed track Heartbeat in Eurovision 2016). Supernova icon Markus Riva also returns to the contest in his tenth appearance with new anthem Bigger Than This.

We’ve listened to all the entries and presented you with our highlights below, however, you can check out all entries on Supernova’s website. LTV’s Supernova takes place with a semi-final on February 1, and a final a week later on February 8.

Adelina – Electric Love

Adelina shines as a standout talent from Latvia, boasting collaborations with industry heavyweights like RedOne and Simon Fuller’s global pop sensations, Now United. Her Supernova entry, Electric Love, exudes international star power, pairing powerhouse vocals with sleek electronic production by Purple Juice. This dancefloor-ready anthem is set to electrify Riga and beyond.

Citi Zeni – Ramtai

We do love these guys (check out our 2022 interview with them here) and Ramtai is an entry that captures the infectious magnetism and energy that the group do so well. Set to deliver an explosive on-stage performance packed with their eccentric style, Ramtai is an electronic dance anthem brimming with a powerhouse sense of fun crafted by the band’s Toms Jēkabs Kagainis, Emmy Kristine Guttulsud Kristiansen, Oscar Immanuel Mathisen, Mikus Frišfelds, and Dagnis Roziņš.

Emilja – Heartbeat

Emilja came to prominence this year in Latvia with radio hits Sirds pelnos and Noticēt sev, she now delivers English language track Heartbeat. Her delicate vocals are soundtracked by rousing pop production from Niels Sakko which gears towards an up-tempo chorus packed with positivity.

Markus Riva – Bigger Than This

Markus Riva has been working on incredible things this year, dropping his impressive album Bigger Than This, an ode to nineties inspired club anthems. This vibe continues in his energetic Bigger Than This which can only be described as another Markus Riva classic. Working with Ukrainian producer Roman Nepomiashchyi, Markus delivers big vocals, pounding electro production, and something that could be a real moment on both the Supernova and hopefully Eurovision Song Contest stage. Check our most recent chat with Markus here.

Justs – Fit Right

Maintaining a musical presence after his Eurovision Song Contest performance in 2016, Justs returns to Supernova with the edgy Fit Right, working on the track with Aluel Ayok-Loewenberg, Oskars Uhans, and Rūdolfs Budze. An eighties inspired melody powers throughout Fit Right, whilst Justs delivers a cold, powerful vocal atop the sharp electronic production.

Marta – Loveable

Marta delivers a very contemporary slice of radio-friendly pop with Loveable. The star who is building up an impressive array of English-language tracks, delivers the feel-good Loveable, collaborating with producer JJ LUSH. This is destined to be a crowdpleaser and is already receiving an impressive response from pop fans online.

Rūta Dūduma – Chemical

Rūta Dūduma presents Chemical, a number that pairs soulful vocals with slinky electronics. The star is no stranger to Supernova, appearing in both 2015 and 2016. With musical theatre credentials and experience in the world of jazz, Rūta has a distinctive vocal style and original production style (especially as it builds to drum-and-bass-style beats) which helps this stand out as a Supernova entry to keep an eye on.

The Ludvig – Līgo

Perhaps the biggest contender based on views on Supernova’s official YouTube channel, The Ludvig (artist Jēkabs Kalmanis) brings Līgo, an entry that might conjure up artists such as Go_A, combining traditional sounds with contemporary pop. The star made history as Supernova’s youngest contender in 2017, but now he’s all grown up and has brought a powerhouse Eurovision contender to the contest.
