It’s hard to believe that it’s been near ten years since Nathan Sykes debut solo album Unfinished Business, which produced such hits as Over and Over Again and Kiss Me Quick. Thankfully, The Wanted star now returns with a new solo single in the form of Pieces of Me – the first taste of Nathan’s sophomore album.
Working with Tobie Tripp, David Sneddon and Hurts star Theo Hutchcraft, Nathan has crafted a slick fusion of pop and R&B which showcases his smooth vocals atop breezy production from Tobie. The number is a welcome return to Nathan’s solo sound, shining as the perfect type of contemporary radio-friendly pop.
Nathan shares: “I’ve been in and around music for a long time now, but it feels as though people have only seen pieces of who I am – that’s what this song is about. Pieces Of Me. Taking these ideas, whispers or rumours of what people think I am and making it feel really fun with a big old pop chorus. I’m so excited to be releasing something for the first time in over eight years and Pieces Of Me is the perfect thing for people to hear first.”
Nathan releases the track on a ‘smart vinyl’ format which connects with users’ phones, allowing them to instantly listen to music from Nathan’s album sessions. It comes with four songs, including the first single and is set to be updated with new recordings at a later date. You can order that here.
