Rising synthpop duo Saturday AM return with their third single, proving that good things really do come in threes. The number, Heart First, draws inspiration from a surprising cinematic source, whilst continuing to showcase the duo’s ambitious sound which feels nostalgic to the golden years of synthpop, yet with a contemporary freshness.
The band share more about the inspiration behind their sound, noting: “With every heartbeat, we’re recreating…” Our next single, “Heart First,” arrives this March. It’s a song about defying doubt and stepping into the future that was always meant to be yours. The future is calling—are you ready to chase it?”
Drawing inspiration from the underrated 1997 sci-fi film Gattaca, Saturday AM share: “Why Gattaca? We took inspiration from the film because it captures the core of what Heart First is all about. A story of defying expectations. Of chasing a dream no matter the odds. Of fighting for a future only you can see. Of saying, “I choose who I become.” That’s the heartbeat of Heart First.”
Saturday AM are made up of Matt Freeland and Aaron Boyd. They are steadily building up an impressive discography of contemporary classic synthpop/rock anthems including Elevate and Outside In.
