Pecadillo Pictures has become synonymous with high quality releases and Levan Akin’s And Then We Danced looks set to continue this association. This Georgian film explores masculinity within a national dance ensemble in what looks like an energetic and heartfelt fashion. The official synopsis notes:
Merab has been training from a young age at the National Georgian Ensemble with his dance partner, Mary. The pair have diligently crafted their painstakingly perfected technique, yet it all comes crashing down when the carefree and handsome Irakli arrives and becomes both Merab’s strongest rival and desire.
Swedish filmmaker Akin has previously directed YA horror feature, The Circle, back in 2015. It will be interesting to see him flirt with LGBT themes more directly in this film which explores queer sexual awakening. It stars Levan Gelbakhiani, Bachi Valishvili, and Ana Javakishvili.
And Then We Dance is slated for a UK cinema release by Pecadillo Pictures. More news when we have it.
