Cakes and gay romance, we really could not wish for more. Pecadillo Pictures have released the trailer and synopsis for The Cakemaker, from Israeli director Ofir Raul Graizer.
“Thomas, a young German baker, is having an affair with Oren, an Israeli married man who has frequent business visits in Berlin. Anat, Oren’s wife, runs a small café in downtown Jerusalem. When a tragedy strikes, Thomas and Anat are drawn together in an intense yet peculiar bond in the most unlikely of circumstances. Yet despite their newfound closeness, Thomas is hiding the secret that brought him to Israel – and to protect it, he will stretch his lie to a point of no return.”
Although the trailer does give the narrative’s game away a little too much, The Cakemaker looks like an impressive dramatic piece. Tackling some undeniably heartfelt concepts and championing queer voices from an often underrepresented geographical location in the world of LGBT cinema, Graizer’s film looks like a must for fans of queer cinema.
Peccadillo Pictures releases the project on December 2nd on VOD and home video.
