Amazon Prime continues to ramp up its original programming with some great content – including their recent big budget tour de force Hunters. With new sci-fi show Tales from the Loop dropping tomorrow, the streaming giant has also unveiled a first look trailer at a more lighthearted piece of sci-fi, titled Upload. Amazon tell us:
From Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) comes Upload, a new sci-fi comedy. In the near future, people who are near death can be “uploaded” into virtual reality environments. Cash-strapped Nora works customer service for the luxurious “Lakeview” digital afterlife. When party-boy/coder Nathan’s car crashes, his girlfriend uploads him into Nora’s VR world.
The trailer suggests that this is a very breezy, bingeable show – to be expected with a solid showrunner like Greg Daniels taking the lead. The use of Talking Heads in the trailer has unfortunately sparked some similarities with the excruciating Matt Damon mess Downsizing, but we’re willing to look past that.
We’re also delighted that the ever watchable Robbie Amell is taking the lead. He’s a likeable screen presence that will shine when it comes to showcasing some comic chops, as well as being a beautiful specimen to behold.
Upload gets er… uploaded on the 1st of May to Amazon Prime.
