You’re going to need to block out the horrible narration on this trailer for Roman Polanski’s upcoming feature, Venus In Fur, which makes it appear like some low-rent television comedy. Narration aside, this looks like a playful and highly-charged drama from master auteur Polanski.
Based on David Ives’ stage play, Venus In Fur, follows Emmanuelle Seigner’s spirited actress as she tries to convince a theatrical director (Mathieu Amalric) that she would be perfect for a role in his upcoming production.
With the always outstanding Seigner and Amalric on board, not to mention Polanski at the helm – Venus In Furs is shaping up to be rather impressive. We’ve seen before that Polanski excels in single-location productions in the magnificent Carnage.
There is no set release date for Venus In Fur but the arrival of the trailer signals that its release should not be too far away.
