The first Purge had an intriguing concept that was dully executed resulting in a run of the mill home invasion thriller. However, the $3m budgeted picture made over thirty times its production costs back – meaning that a sequel was inevitable. Things look an incredibly promising for the second effort The Purge: Anarchy which takes the action out onto the streets.
Original director James DeMonaco returns to direct this sequel which follows a young couple who become stranded after their car breaks down on the night of the purge. Frank Grillo heads the cast.
The Purge: Anarchy hits UK cinemas on July 25th.
