Connecticut based rising talent Akira AK is fresh from releasing his second EP, titled Pearl. The five song set sees Akira impress with the strength in his vocal delivery, emotive lyrics, and sensitive melodies.
Tracks such as Pearl impress through their sensitive lyricism centred on themes of love and devotion. Akira’s diverse range is highlighted in the moodier, subtle electronic production of White Noise which gradually builds to anthemic pop anthem. Storm in My Head captures the end of a damaging relationship in its open lyricism which sees Akira sing: “Lost then I’m found, up then I’m down – to earth, I know my worth,” in this relatable track. I Too Shall Be Saved By Love feels like an emotive follow-up tonally to Storm In My Head. Rose is an instant highlight with its vocoder-centred vocals, anthemic dancepop production, and Akira’s symbolism-filled lyrics.
