Malta native Gian releases his latest single Stick Around – drawing inspiration from Rina Sawayama’s Sayamana album and some tough personal experiences of his own. The song plays with pop and trap sounds to create an irresistible synthpop infusion and wonderful showcase for Gian as a talent to look out for.
Gian tells us: ‘Stick Around’ expresses anger and desperation for a relationship to work out. I wrote it during a rough patch with my partner, a
point where I felt worthless and undeserving of love, as well as happiness.” Intelligently crafted lyrics showcase this volatile emotion with Gian’s edgy, emotive vocals crooning: “Will you stick around when I go crazy?” against a high-energy electronic beat. This is a moody, synth-filled ride that pays homage to new wave eighties pop in both production style and the darkness of its tone.
Staggeringly, whilst Stick Around has the polish of an artist working in the industry for decades, Gian is only twenty-years old, describing his sound as “bedroom pop with chillwave and indie undertones.” Gian’s previous releases such as Living in Your Bubble, Cloudy and Youth are all worth seeking out also.
