Filmmaker Antonio Campos blew us away with Christine in 2016 and Simon Killer in 2012, we have high hopes that he will do it again with Netflix feature The Devil All The Time in 2020. Coming to the streaming service on the 16th of September, the Tom Holland lead Southern Gothic thriller looks like one of the most provocative, exciting pictures of the year.
Netflix tells us “In Knockemstiff, Ohio and its neighboring backwoods, sinister characters — an unholy preacher (Robert Pattinson), twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan) — converge around young Arvin Russell (Tom Holland) as he fights the evil forces that threaten him and his family. Spanning the time between World War II and the Vietnam war, director Antonio Campos’ THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME renders a seductive and horrific landscape that pits the just against the corrupted.”
With a supporting cast starring Bill Skarsgård, Mia Wasikowska, Harry Melling, Haley Bennett, and Pokey LaFarge, The Devil All The Time is certainly showcasing an incredible star power. We have high hopes that Donald Ray Pollock’s complex, award winning novel is just as rewarding and finely crafted on screen as it is off.
