The West End production Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has been a runaway success since debuting at The Apollo Theatre in 2017 after a successful Sheffield debut, so it is no surprise that a film adaptation of the musical would be fast approaching. Arriving on the 26th of February 2021 (after being delayed from October 2020), the project explores the high school life of Sheffield teenager Jamie who dreams of being a drag queen.
Newcomer Max Harwood takes the lead role and is joined by: Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Sam Bottomley, Sharon Horgan and Richard E. Grant.
The stage production’s director, Jonathan Butterell, makes his feature-film debut as director, with screenplay and lyrics by Tom MacRae, songs by Dan Gillespie Sells and a score composed by Sells and Anne Dudley.
