Edinburgh Drag Star Ripley gears up to drop her debut EP One Foot On The Ladder this Friday. The six track set contains the previously released Milkshake and Fake News – the latter of which received an excellent remix from the talented Product. The highly-political release from Ripley tackles an abundance of societal problems, with the Scottish star noting: “It sums up all my feelings about politics, corruption, capitalism and lockdown. I’m so bloody proud of it, honestly.”
The glorious Fake News released back in April tackles the horrors of Trump and The Daily Mail in an infectious, savvy manner. “I hear you’re feeling down? I hear you’re feeling blue? I think you’re going round spreading shit and fake news,” sings Ripley on a chorus that will linger with listeners. The June released Milkshake is a dreamy slice of electronic pop that tackles the act of throwing a milkshake in the face of a right wing bigot. It’s a humorous, yet cleverly constructed slice of pop music.
