Cory Stewart and Jxckson have both recently featured on the site with their respective solo singles Little Lies and Mango, but now both queer pop favourites unite on new track Grab the Fire. The track, a moody dancefloor filler, is inspired by the star’s astrological signs.
With Jxckson based in Austin, Texas and Cory in Toronto, both stars connected through queer music showcase Queerantine and quickly arranged some Zoom sessions with the aim of collaborating. The result is Grab the Fire a synth-packed, dancehall track which is due to feature on Cory’s 2021 album. The singer notes: “After we finished writing Grab the Fire, it was evident that we’d landed on the perfect amalgamation of both of our sounds.”
Jxckson adds: “I didn’t quite know what to expect prior to our first virtual session but I soon realized the magic we could create working together. In the end, It’s insane to see how our unique styles came together and blended so effortlessly.”
With a pulsating rhythm and sultry vocals from the two singers, Grab the Fire evokes rich imagery with flames, phoenixes, and blazing passion conjured up in the song’s lyrics.
