Darren Hayes makes his long-awaited return to the world of pop music with a brand new solo single Let’s Try Being in Love. The track which is written and produced by the Australian singer, sees him play with icy eighties inspired sounds and ambitious vocals. The track’s unedited version clocks in at 5 minutes thirty-six seconds, delivering tense, emotive synthpop with a sense of urgency.
As well as the full version, Darren releases a four minute radio edit of the track which is his first single since 2012’s Stupid Mistake from album Secret Codes and Battleships. Darren told fans: “It’s been over 10 years since I’ve released music but I haven’t been as excited about a new song since the release of “I Want You” over 25 years ago.”
On the accompanying video, Darren shared: “I wanted to show I love the feminine in me, be proud of the gay me. There’s a dance scene that is so passionate, everything’s alive and thriving and blooming. That’s how I feel in general about music. And that’s a hugely sharp contrast to how I felt 10 years ago.” We would be thriving if Scott Evans was our love interest too.
It’s unclear as to whether Darren will be accompanying Let’s Try Being in Love with a full album or EP. Connect with him below to stay posted.
