Culture Fix’s Andrew sat down with Latvian Supernova 2022 champions Citi Zēni, who will be taking to the Eurovision Song Contest stage in Turin with their raucous pop anthem Eat Your Salad.
With under three months to go before the contest, the band shared their delight at the track’s huge international success (at the moment of writing it features in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland’s Spotify charts) and their excitement to deliver the song on a grand scale on the Pala Olimpico stage.
Citi Zēni also shared how they hit the balance between crafting a cheeky, satirical anthem, a great pop track, and a song with a strong social message. Other topics include tackling censorship and a playful suggestions of a brand new Guinness World Record.
