Interview: Sam Outlaw Talks UK Tour, ‘Popular Mechanics’ and Delving Into 80s Pop-Rock Sounds

Sam Outlaw has become a firm favourite with country fans through albums including Angeleno and Tenderheart. Last November he returned with a slight change of pace with Popular Mechanics, an album that draws inspiration from big eighties pop-rock sounds from the likes of Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Sam chatted to Culture Fix’s Andrew about the inception of the album, the pressures of moving away from a traditional country sound, returning to the world of touring after the pandemic, and took part in our quickfire quiz.
