Quintessential eighties fantasy actioner Red Sonja starring Brigitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger gets the rerelease treatment this July 18th.
Richard Fleischer’s cult fantasy sees the Danish actress star as a heroine who sets out to avenge the death of her family after being granted extraordinary powers by a mysterious vision. Her quest sees her meet up with Kalidor (Arnold Schwarzenegger). The late great Ennio Morricone provides the score whilst Fleischer directs capturing all the gusto of a high-octane fantasy epic.
STUDIOCANAL have also commissioned Italian artist Renato Casaro to create new artwork to celebrate the rerelease. Casaro’s credits include work with Sergio Leone, Francis Ford Coppola and most recently Quentin Tarantino. A documentary celebrating his artistic achievements, The Last Movie Painter, will be included as a bonus feature on the Blu-Ray, the 4K Ultra HD™ and Limited SteelBook editions.
