Rina Sawayama releases the next taster of her upcoming album with title track Hold The Girl. Blending numerous genre influences from noughties pop to contemporary country, Hold The Girl asserts Rina as one of the music biz’s most exciting figures this year.
Rina co-writes with Barney Lister and Jonny Lattimer with Lister also producing the track. It is thought that the singer wrote the single after a therapy session with the song taking a deep dive into Rina’s confidence, and telling the story of her becoming a better version of herself.
Rina shares: “Hold The Girl the third single from my sophomore album is out now. ngl I listened to it this morning and it made me go wow bitxh u did that !!!! there is a deeper personal reason for the song which I will go into when I’m ready to tell that story. but for now just know that it’s about holding yourself close through pain. this song healed me and got me writing the rest of the album.”
Hold the Girl is released 16th September.
