NFL star and emerging musical talent Blake Proehl debuts his third track of 2022 in single Happy Without Me. The new number is written by Blake and Kaitlin Stark, with production from Zach Foty. Blake delivers a relatable message with an impressive emotional conviction, his smooth soulful vocals soundtracked by delicate piano, immersing electronic effects and rich guitar instrumentation.
The track is steeped in a personal resonance for Blake with the musician sharing that it was inspired after seeing a picture of an ex with a new love interest: “I had no idea that despite not wanting her back, it would hurt to see her happy with someone else. I wanted to write a relatable song about the heavier side of a relationship after previously focusing on the happier aspects.” This message can be felt in the well-pitched lyrics with lines such as “Knew from the beginning that you weren’t the one, I don’t want your body, But it hurts to see you happy, Without me, without me…”
Blake found himself delving into his passion of music after an unexpected injury forced him to hit pause on his career in the NFL as part of the Minnesota Vikings. Working on this physical recovery, Blake has been able to utilise the time effectively to home in on his musical talents – every cloud has a silver lining!
