Idina Menzel ventures into full blown disco diva territory on her freshly announced new album Drama Queen. The musical theatre and film star shares the first taste of this – Move, a balls to the wall pop banger.
Written by Chantry Johnson, Idina Menzel, Michelle Zarlenga and Mitch Allen, Move features lines such as “‘Cause tonight, I come first, If you’re standing in my way, You better move for me,” against pumping synths and delivered with Idina’s impeccable vocal.
Idina shares: “I am a Drama Queen…I’m dramatic and emotional and passionate. I love the stage and the spotlight. I love the attention and the roar of an audience. I have big feelings. I sing my ass off through tears of joy, heartbreak, anger, and sadness. This project is the most fun I’ve ever had writing and recording an album. I want everyone to move and sing with me and embrace their inner Drama Queen.”
A press release adds: “Throughout her new album ‘Drama Queen’ Idina Menzel brings her electrifying vocal chops to high-energy, electro-dance-pop anthems. With funky grooves and a disco-infused vibe, Idina’s self-empowering songs invite the listener to share her spotlight and MOVE to the dancefloor! Featuring collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) and more, Menzel’s new album brings the drama in the best way possible!”
