She’s the Queen of Swedish schlager pop and a Eurovision winning icon, now Charlotte Perrelli changes gears on her most recent single Love is a Losing Game. The star presents a delicate orchestral reworking of the track which featured on the legendary British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse’s 2006 album Back to Black.
Charlotte’s cinematic rendition of the track deploys the skills of producer Mattias Bylund for this release which the singer revealed would be the first taste of her eagerly-anticipated new album: “Today I release the first song of my upcoming album…. so in love with this song. Love is a losing game. Love this version and the strings are so beautiful it’s unreal,” the star shared on Instagram. The single showcases Charlotte’s elegant vocal prowess, accentuated by the beautifully restrained strings that fill the track.
Full details about the upcoming album have yet to be revealed. It’s not clear whether this will be comprised of popular song covers, will take a more stripped orchestral approach, or if the LP will include some high octane schlager akin to Charlotte’s fan favourite numbers Still Young, The Girl and Hero.
