British rising talent Jamie Hannah has seen has star continue to rise thanks to his thoughtful and original pop compositions such as Flowers, House of Truth (with Boy George) and Tomorrow. Jamie’s hard work continues to pay off with the release of his first single from his upcoming EP arriving this weekend. Titled Surrender to You, the track sees Jamie collaborate with Bruce Wiegner, Luke Shrestha, Maris Ward and Simon Jay.
Speaking about the themes of Surrender to You, Jamie notes: “This song describes my experience with dating, and through all the vulnerability, how I learnt to become more comfortable with the unknown. And, then the incredible joy I experienced when I chose to admit this to myself.”
Expanding on this, the singer-songwriter told followers: “Learning to love different parts of your queerness is something that is ever evolving. There is a feeling of euphoria: letting your guard down; being vulnerable; surrendering to the fear; accepting the love. I tried to emulate this to and fro within the choral swells in the track.”
Surrender to You is an elegant number that showcases the emotive, absorbing vocals of the singer against lush cinematic pop melodies. Building in tempo and grandeur as the song progresses, Jamie and his producers capture the emotional narrative of the lyrics with dramatic aplomb.
On his upcoming EP, Jamie shared: “When I went across to LA last September, I left with a view to create a body of work I could be proud of – look back in 20 years from now and say to myself ‘hey Jamie, you really gave this music thing shot’.”
