US singer-songwriter Anastacia reveals her take on Supergirl, a track initially recorded and released by German band Reamonn in 2000.
Anastacia previously made a welcome return to studio with her single Best Days, her take on German rock band Die Toten Hosen’s Tage Wie Diese (Days Like These). The single marked the first release from the US singer’s upcoming eighth album Our Songs, which arrives six year’s after 2017’s Evolution album.
Arriving on the 22nd of September, Our Songs sees Anastacia present a number of translated versions of German pop hits. The translated album description notes: “‘Our Songs’ unites interpretations of very different top hits from Germany, which Anastacia now also wants to bring out into the world in English. Equally familiar and completely new to their fans in this country, people in other parts of the world will be able to enjoy these hit tunes for the first time ever.”
It continues: “On ‘Our Songs’, Anastacia has selected German hits from the last 40 years. Other highlights of the album certainly include “Born To Live Forever” (Unheilig’s 2010 hit), “Forever Young” (Alphaville 1984) and “Still Loving You” – that timeless power ballad of the Scorpions, breaking the top 5 across Europe when Anastacia was just 16 years old.”
It is certainly a unique concept for an album and it is likely that many of the tracks will feel original and fresh to listeners outside Germany. Hopefully the singer unveils her take on some German schlager albums also – the world is ready to hear her vocals on Modern Talking’s Brother Louie.
