Aiden Grimshaw makes a welcome return to the music world with his first single released under his own name in around eight years. Signing with Dutch label Revanche Records, Aiden releases new track Pretender, the first taster of his upcoming new EP.
On Pretender, Aiden co-writes with Dee Adam and Si Hulbert – the latter also producing. The British pop talent shares: “This is gonna be the first of 4 tracks that form a little ep – I’ve written these tracks over the last 10 years – in between doing different projects or looking for the perfect ‘pop’ songs all that time ago, these songs were written with friends when I just wanted to write something for me but then didnt really know what to do with them – because they weren’t right for what I was doing or told to be doing or whatever.”
Pretender features minimalist electronic production with a recurring percussive beat, allowing Aiden’s rich emotive vocals to shine. The chorus sees Aiden croon: “Hey, don’t you surrender, To the pretender, Don’t you ever let go, Fight (Fight), fight the feeling” backed by hypnotic vocal effects.
