Spanish model and actor Jon Kortajarena plays against type in Pieles (English: Skins) by director Eduardo Casanova. The impressive film is an aesthetic experience like no other (Casanova delivers Jodorowsky by the way of John Waters, styled by the sumptuous kitsch pink styling of Barbara Cartland).
Pieles subverts expectations of beauty and romance in its narrative which follows several intertwining tales of “societal outcasts” who don’t meet mainstream standards of beauty. Kortajarena is cast as a man with severe facial burns.
At the premiere, Kortajarena embraced the pink aesthetic of Casanova’s world delivering cotton candy fantasy realness.
Here’s a bonus shot of Spanish pop legends, Baccara, performing at the party.
