Benjamin Ingrosso Delivers Delicious Summer Jam ‘Honey Boy’ with Nile Rodgers, Purple Disco Machine & Shenseea

After debuting the track at previous live dates, Benjamin Ingrosso delivers his Purple Disco Machine collaboration Honey Boy. The number is a delicious Summer anthem that has to size up as one of Benjamin’s best tracks yet – and with a musical CV like his, that is a truly impressive feat. The track sees the Swedish pop superstar collaborate with Chic legend Nile Rodgers and rising pop talent Shenseea, as well as German hitmaker Purple Disco Machine.

Benjamin has been crafting true pop euphoria of late with recent cuts including Better Days and Kite showcasing an upbeat pop that pays homage to the music of the seventies and eighties. The latter even involving an added feature with the UK’s Olly Alexander.

Accompanied by a brilliantly executed video written and directed by Alice Fassi, we see Benjamin take on the role of Golden Boy, a honey covered character searching for love – all delivered with a seventies disco polish. On the new release, Benjamin shares:

“I came up with “Honey Boy” at a nightclub in Stockholm, carried away by the rhythm of a house beat that instantly had me humming along to what would become the chorus. That melody haunted me for an entire year. It wasn’t until I found myself in a Chinese restaurant, nodding along to a disco track, that it all clicked. It had to become a disco song. The song, shaped by a memorable encounter in the city’s nightlife, quickly moved from concept to studio recording. Once recorded, we all felt the potential the song had and that we had to add more talented influences to make it reach its full potential.

The musician continues: “I reached out to Tino (Purple Disco Machine) to see if he wanted to finalise it with me, which he wanted! After having gone back and forth and crafted what we believed was the perfect foundation for the song, we reached out to Shenseea who joined in and added her touch to the record. The final piece of the puzzle was when Tino got Nile Rodgers to add live guitar to the song, infusing the track with authentic disco-era vibes. On my Europe tour I have been teasing the song and “Honey Boy” has proven irresistible, compelling everyone to dance.”

Benjamin is planning to drop his next studio album later this year. He’ll be taking to the stage in Malmö as the interval act for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest – a platform that the star delivered his track Dance You Off on back in 2018.
