Empire of the Sun have ended an eight year drought with the announcement of their fourth album Ask That God. The announcement follows the release of singles Changes and the freshly-dropped Music on the Radio.
On Instagram, the duo described their new single Music on the Radio: “Without further ado, empyreans we present in full most color our new song – Music On The Radio .. this is an ode to all the unsung heroes. Those bands, those luminaries who existed in the minds of teens for generations – the unsung artists, all hail the bands that started the bands that lead to the bands that inspire the bands that you know as superstars soundtracking your life – the real ones, the forever young ones, the older fun ones, the mighty, the few… long live the underground!”
Music on the Radio and previous single Changes find a home on the Australian star’s long awaited fourth studio album – arriving eight years after their third LP Two Vines. The band shared: “It has been a journey unlike any other that Empire Of The Sun has undertaken. We always ‘go there’ when it comes to exploration of both the self and the outside world. This body of work represents the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever seen and that’s reflected in the music.”
Lord Littlemore notes: “We always draw our inspiration from the world that has drawn us. Be it a leaf or a mountain, an argument or an exhibition, a distant sound or a micro sleep. Empire has always been inspired and continues to find inspiration in all that is present around us.” Emperor adds: “Ask That God is an album we searched for and were thankfully blessed with. We are nothing more than conduits, gathering experience and finding what is meant for the Empire to find.”
