Foster The People ready their fourth studio album – and first in seven years – Paradise State of Mind for an August 16th release. Drawing influence from the world of disco and funk, the band lead by singer Mark Foster, gets things set off to an incredible start with lead single Lost in Space.
Lost in Space arrives with silky strings, synthesisers and vocoders, tapping into the cult subgenre of space disco, whilst simultaneously maintaining the band’s signature indie pop credentials. The single is written by the band’s Isom Innis and Mark Foster, with Mark also producing.
“The record started as a case study of the late Seventies crossover between disco, funk, gospel, jazz, and all those sounds. It was such a beautiful moment in time, when these different styles of music were cross-referencing each other — artists like Nile Rogers and Chic, the Tom Tom Club, and Giorgio Moroder,” shares Mark.
