This song came to our attention during a fantastic performance on Later with Jools Holland and the Little Mix star’s latest anthem is definitely a contender for 2024’s song of the year. After the success of first single Angel Of My Dreams, Jade released the incredible disco-inspired follow-up Fantasy in October and we have had it on repeat ever since.
Jade co-wrote the song alongside Mike Sabath and Pablo Bowman, collaborators on her debut hit Angel Of My Dreams and described the hit as a ‘disco track’. Inspiration is drawn from icons such as Donna Summer and Diana Ross, who Jade embodies in the video, directed by David LaChappelle no less.
Inspired by gender, sexuality and the idea of exploring fantasies, Jade shows depth and maturity beyond her early days as part of X-Factor winning girlband Little Mix. A standout moment for us is the break in the second chorus, where Jade sings acapella, before building into an energetic high-tempo conclusion that even Jessie Ware or Kylie Minogue would be proud of.
As the last member of Little Mix to release solo material, Jade’s releases have clearly been worth the wait. While comparisons with band members Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jesy are inevitable, to us, Jade’s releases are the most exciting and have her currently as the breakout star of the band. We are so excited to see what is next to come for the 31-year old star, but are sure Fantasy will keep us dancing until her next release.
