She famously told us in The First Wives Club: “Don’t get mad, get everything,” with the late Ivana Trump now feeling like an underdog that took on former husband, Donald Trump upon their divorce in 1997. The former Czech skiier, author, businesswoman, socialite, and model would go on to have one of the most interesting careers post-divorce – from media appearances, reality shows such an Ivana centred dating special dubbed Ivana Young Man, and later a surprising appearance on UK television as part of the cast of Celebrity Big Brother in 2010 alongside stars such as Swedish dance act Basshunter, Hollywood madame Heidi Fleiss, and The Colbys powerhouse Stephanie Beacham.
Whilst we sadly lost the legendary camp icon Ivana back in 2022, we are still making surprising discoveries about her varied career. Fans of the star’s turn on Celebrity Big Brother will remember the Czech socialite’s love for a good musical number as she danced and lip-synced to Rick Astley’s Together Forever with a fervent joy, yet many don’t know that Ivana made a small foray into the music industry with her fourth and final husband Italian Rossano Rubicondi. The pair recorded multi-lingual duet Amore Mio, Secret Love, a Dalida-esque love ballad back in the mid noughties.
Amore Mio, Secret Love would be available in several versions, including a number of dance-centred mixes with music producer Sammy Goz. Yet conscious about cross-genre appeal, Ivana and Rossano tapped into numerous genres from club cuts, French versions, lounge remixes and Easy Listening Bossa Nova mixes. This would be the businesswoman’s only foray into the music genre unfortunately, yet we’re hopeful like us, many will discover this enchanting number for the first time. Just managing to tip over 1000+ Spotify streams, we feel like Amore Mio, Secret Love is perhaps something of an undiscovered gem.
Ivana would sadly pass away in July 2022 after the result of a fall in her Manhattan home. Prior to this, she would divorce from Rubicondi in 2009. He sadly passed away in 2021. Amore Mio, Secret Love remains a fascinating snapshot of when celebrity romance and music combine, whilst shining as another diamond in the tiara of the late, great Ivana’s many achievements.
