Hi Jude. Thanks for taking the time to chat. You’ve got a really refreshing sound and it has been great to hear your new music. Congrats on announcing your EP Rough and Ready! How does it feel to finally share this?
It feels amazing—it’s been a long time coming! I’ve poured so much into this project, so being able to finally share it with the world is incredible. I’m beyond excited for everyone to hear it.
How did you find yourself getting into the music industry? Has it been a challenging world to break into?
Music has always been my passion. Growing up, I was on pirate radio stations at just 11 or 12, MCing to D&B with my older brothers. Later, I signed with a modelling agency, which opened up opportunities and connections in the industry. Lockdown forced me to pause, but Twisted marks my big return—and it’s been worth the wait. Breaking into music is tough, but those challenges shaped my sound and my story
You mentioned your new single Forever is “unfiltered, real, and deeply personal.” Was there a particular story behind the track?
Absolutely. Forever is about living life to the fullest—embracing every moment, pushing for more, and celebrating both love and ambition. It’s a reflection of my perspective on life: always moving forward, no regrets.
Rough and Ready sounds like a tribute to real, raw moments. What’s a moment or memory you look back on as truly “rough and ready”?
Honestly, “rough and ready” sums up my entire journey. From growing up and moving out at 17 to everything I’ve overcome, it’s all prepared me for this moment. Life hasn’t always been easy, but those experiences made me who I am today—and I’m ready for whatever comes next.
I love the EP cover! How was the experience of shooting that? What was the style you were going for?
It was an amazing experience working with Joe Alexander. They really captured my vision. The shoot pays homage to the early 2000s with vintage styling and a nostalgic vibe. That’s so true to my personal style—I’m always rocking those old-school brands. It just felt authentic, and I think people will connect with it.
Your music taps into real experiences of growing up in the UK and feels instantly relatable. How do you think elements of Britishness come through in your songs, and are there any aspects of British culture or life that particularly inspire your music?
Growing up in the early 2000s had a huge impact on me. Life felt simpler then—we’d spend hours outside on BMXs, no phones or social media, just real connections. That era raised me, and it’s the foundation of my music. You can feel that raw, nostalgic energy throughout the project.
Twisted made a big impact this summer, and TikTok played a role in that. How has social media changed the way you connect with fans and share your music?
TikTok was a game-changer! It amplified the song beyond anything I imagined. Social media lets me connect with fans directly—it feels so personal, which I love. The support has been overwhelming, and I’m so grateful for everyone who’s shared or listened to my music.
You’ve had huge chart success with Twisted, hitting No.5 in the UK and staying on the Global Big Top 40 for weeks. What was it like seeing that song blow up?
It was surreal! You release music because you love it, but you never know how people will respond. Seeing Twisted take off like that was incredible—I was literally in the bath when I found out it hit the charts. I’ll never forget that moment.
The EP sounds like it will capture a lot of growth and lessons from youth. What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned so far on your journey?
Don’t take anything for granted. I’ve learned that mental health is just as important as physical health—you have to take care of both. Also, respect people and really listen—you can learn something valuable from everyone you meet.
You’ve said you’re “not interested in perfection” but more in “truth.” Why do you think listeners relate to that sense of authenticity?
Because it’s real. People connect with music that’s genuine and honest—it’s relatable. When you’re true to yourself, it resonates on a deeper level, and that’s what I want my music to do.
Rough And Ready drops in January, kicking off 2025 in a big way. What are you most excited for in the year ahead?
I’m excited for everything! Kicking off the year with this EP feels like the perfect introduction to what’s coming next. 2025 is going to be a big year for me, and I’m ready to embrace every moment, Rough and Ready.
Can we expect any live dates in 2025?
Absolutely! Performing live is a dream of mine, and I can’t wait to connect with fans up close and personal. Stay tuned—live dates are coming!
Is the plan to drop a full album after the Rough and Ready EP release?
For sure! The debut album is definitely in the works for 2025. This is just the beginning, and there’s so much more to come.
