Maja Ivarsson celebrates twenty-seven years in the music business, leading the way as frontwoman of indie rock band The Sounds. The star makes an interesting career move by taking to the Melodifestivalen stage with her new track Kamikaze Life, which came out of solo sessions with top songwriters including Joy & Linnea Deb and Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt. The Living in America hitmaker caught up with our editor Andrew to chat about her expansive career and preparations for Melodifestivalen.
Among the topics covered, Maja discusses how her appearance in Melodifestivalen came about, what we can expect from her performance and the powerfully titled Kamikaze Life – and whether Eurovision is a long-held dream for her. Of course, we couldn’t chat to Maja without tapping into the legacy of The Sounds, discussing the band’s legacy, her relationship with her earlier hits, and what the future holds for the Swedish rockers.
Fans will be excited to hear about further solo music that Maja is cooking up and why she won’t be tampering with the arrangements of any of her hits any time soon.
Maja will be appearing at Melodifestivalen Heat 1 on February 1st.
