French pop icon Sheila will mark her eightieth birthday this year, but the Spacer hitmaker shows no signs of putting her feet up. Returning with her twenty-eighth studio album À l’avenir – arriving April 4th – and its lead single of the same name, Sheila navigates fresh new sounds to showcase her unmistakably characteristic voice on.
Album notes share: “With this new album, the 28th of her career, Sheila continues in 2025 to intertwine various genres such as Pop, Rock and electro. With lyrics written in particular by Pierre-Yves Lebert, Valérie Véga, Rachel Khan, Amaury Salmon, Pierre Dominique Burgaud on music by Daran, Elio Anthony and Eric Azhar, she addresses here both intimacy and love (Les aléas, Les amoureux, Courir) and spirituality (À l’avenir, Et Dieu dans tout ça, Une petite âme blanche) without forgetting to take a look at History and society (Simone, Gossip, Racée). ‘Learn to repair your heart yourselves / You never know, it can be useful’, she sings on ‘Dilemme’.” [Translated]
The single, translating to In the Future in English, À l’avenir sees the versatile music sing atop production with a melancholic edge and lyrics from Eric Azhar and Pierre-Yves Lebert. We’re delighted to hear that the album will showcase many of the genres that Sheila has excelled in over the years from dance to chanson.
