Screen icon Martin Sheen takes the lead in The Vessel, a Puerto Rican drama produced by Terrence Malick. Julio Quintana writes and directs this feature which examines themes of faith and God in close-knit communities. Here’s the official synopsis:
Ten years after a tidal wave destroys a small-town elementary school with all the children inside, a young man builds a mysterious structure out of the school’s remains, setting the town aflame with passions long forgotten.
We’re pleased to see Sheen take the lead role in a film this gorgeously shot and the presence of several Malick regulars: Hanan Townshend (who provides the score) and A.J. Edwards (editing), fills us with confidence.
The Vessel opens September 16th (US)
