Warren Beatty does not get the credit he deserves for being both an icon on and off the screen, perhaps due to his absence from the film world since 2001’s ill-fated Town & Country. Now, fifteen years on Beatty returns to the screen and the role of writer-director with his long-anticipated Howard Hughes picture, Rules Don’t Apply.
An aspiring young actress (Lily Collins) and her ambitious young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) struggle hopefully with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire (Warren Beatty), who they work for.
We cannot wait for this one, primarily for Beatty’s return to the screen – but also for another chance to see Hail Caesar’s runaway star and future Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich on the big screen. A supporting cast including: Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Haley Bennett, Candice Bergen, Matthew Broderick, Dabney Coleman, Steve Coogan, Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris, Megan Hilty, Oliver Platt and Martin Sheen, further seals the deal.
Hopefully this kickstarts Beatty’s return to the screen and means that the recently-teased Dick Tracy 2 isn’t just pure wishful fantasy.
Rules Don’t Apply is released 23rd of November.
