Money Monster is not a crude innuendo related to Jodie Foster’s lady-bits, it’s the title of her new directorial project which sees her team-up with Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Jack O’Connell.
In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (George Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor (Jack O’Connell) takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies.
We’re excited to see what Jodie has concocted as she is an undeniably interesting filmmaker – even her last project, The Beaver, had some strong moments. However, Money Monster feels like something we should really be excited about – primarily as it looks like Julia Roberts’ best role in years.
Money Monster hits UK cinemas May 27th.
