There are few things that we hate more in cinema than reboots or remakes that refuse to acknowledge the films which they’re recreating. Despite some concern about this when we heard a remake of National Lampoon’s Vacation was on the cards – it seems the project gradually transitioned into a loose sequel.
Vacation sees the grown-up Rusty Griswald (Ed Helms) attempt to save his family by insisting they go on a bonding trip to Walley World.
Original Griswald’s Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo look set to make cameos in their prior roles, whilst new recruits Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, and Chris Hemsworth are keen newbies ready to join the fun. The latter in fact looks very keen in a bulge-tastic sequence which is set to be one of the film’s stand-out moments.
Aside from Thor’s mighty (prosthetic 🙁 ) hammer, the laughs look typical of your average Helms lead comedy. We’re expecting the ladies to shine here with Applegate and Mann usually always managing to impress.
Vacation might be hitting US cinemas this July, but we need to wait until the 13th of November to enjoy this one in the UK.
